Policy Statement: Assisted Reproductive Technologies

It is the position of Origins Canada that it is a basic human right for all individuals whose genetic and biological origins are different from those of their legally recognized families to know their origins.

Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ARTs) may include in vitro fertilization, donated eggs or sperm, embryo transfer, surrogacy, or any other technology producing human life.

It is the position of Origins Canada that it is the basic human right of all persons created through the use of ARTs to have full disclosure and unrestricted access to all information pertaining to their origins including but not restricted to the identities of egg or sperm donors, embryo donors, and gestational surrogates.

Origins Canada supports any legislation that endorses this basic human right.
