The term "birthmother" is used on this website for search engine purposes only. The word "birth mother" is a derogatory, degrading, and inhumane term, essentially meaning breeder or incubator. Origins Canada does NOT condone its use as a term for mothers separated from their children by adoption.

"Natural mother" was the term commonly in use until the adoption industry created terms like "birth mother" to tell us that we are no longer mothers. Natural mothers are more than this. We never signed away our love or our innate motherhood.

Words like "birth mother" give the impression that people can become "ex" family. You can have an ex-boyfriend, but you can never have an ex-child or become an ex-mother.

'Unwed' Mothers Policy: MEDICAL ASSAULT

After preparation, unwed mothers in labour would be given heavy levels of sedation known as lytic cocktails, designed to obliterate feelings. The cocktails consisted of psychotropic barbiturates in a combination of any of the following: Chloral Hydrate, Doriden, Pethidine, sparine, largactyl, morphine, heroin, Pentabarbital, Sodium Amytil, Lithium, codeine.

What it constitutes is medical assault. These drugs were not administered as usual procedure in a normal delivery to married women. This 'treatment' was specifically used on unmarried women. And the administration of Depostestosterone immediately post birth indicates a preconceived plan to remove your baby from you by denying you your natural right to lactate and to keep or change your mind about adoption post birth and BEFORE you signed any consent to adoption. A set up is what it was. Lactation suppressants debond the mother from her baby by interferring in the maternal receptor sites apparantly. They make it less possible for a mother to fight for her child. Unless you signed a consent to allow such drugs to be used on you they have commtted medical assault. Nembutal is another name for Pentobarbital. While it was banned in Australia in the early 1970's for human consumption, it is still in use today in Australia as the drug of choice for euthenasia when putting animals down. Dr Kevorkian uses Nembutal as his drug of choice when assisting suicides.

After my water broke in the maternity reformatory, I was taken to the hospital. I had ONE contraction and didn't know anything else until four hours later in a drugged state in the "recovery room" after my daughter was born. FOUR HOURS later!! One contraction!! They forced my daughter out of me using:

Demerol 100 mg. plus 100 mg. of Phenergan by intramuscular injection, paracervical block, IV Pitocin 1cc and another administration of IV Pitocin 3cc in conjunction with Dextrose IV 400 mg (as stated in the notes). I was also given Ethylene Gas (which they no longer use because it can cause a fire. But it is used as a PRESERVATIVE for vegetables and fruits in transit!!).

Post delivery the hospital records state:

"Darvon Compound 65 mg orally, Depostestosterone 200 mg by intramuscular injection and Nembutal 100mg."

Absolutely no one was with me other than a nurse who I saw once before they knocked me out. No maternity reformatory personnel, no family member...no one. I think it's a miracle many of us, and our babies, didn't die from over-medication.

I believe this was medical malpractice.
